12.07.2026 - A Look Back at Stage 1 of the SOW 2026
Amidst splendid weather, Swiss O Week kicked off with the first leg on La Foilleuse, Morgins’ local mountain, so to speak. At the competition centre, participants were treated to a wonderful view of the Dents du Midi and Mont Blanc. Whilst some were able to set off from the top, most headed straight down into a beautiful mountain forest. The start in a rockfall area was technically demanding, and the climb up to the alpine pastures was physically challenging. However, these hardships were almost forgotten by the time the mountain panorama came into view once more during the final metres at the top. The final sprint led steeply down to the mountain station of the cable car.
But the day wasn’t over yet, as the opening ceremony took place in the Event Centre that evening, alongside the prize-giving. We satisfied our hunger with plenty of delicious raclette – just as you do in Valais.
