Today it was time to get to know the region’s namesake – and that of Swiss O Week – a little better: the ‘Portes du Soleil’ pass, from which we once again enjoyed magnificent views of the Dents du Midi, once again in glorious weather, just as the stage’s motto suggested. The start led into technically challenging sections, where competitors had to navigate safely between the rocks and hilltops to avoid losing too much time. This was followed by what was arguably the most panoramic control of the entire Swiss O Week at the top of the pass, before the course continued across lovely alpine meadows and semi-open terrain to the finish line above Les Crosets.
