19.07.2026 - Information on tick bites and Lyme disease
As is the case almost everywhere in Switzerland, there are ticks in the Dents du Midi region. These can transmit various diseases, such as Lyme disease. The risk of contracting the disease following a tick bite is low, particularly if the tick is removed promptly.
The first symptoms of Lyme disease are localised redness at the bite site, which may spread and enlarge in a ring-shaped pattern. We therefore advise all participants to consult their doctor if they notice any unusual skin changes, even if they have not noticed a tick bite. The earlier the disease is detected, the more effectively it can be treated.
