02.03.2021 – The first registration deadline for the Swiss O Week 2021 has passed and almost 1'300 orienteering enthusiasts as well as the SOW-OC are looking optimistically towards the summer 2021 and have already registered.

In line with the first registration deadline for the Swiss O Week 2021 Arosa, the Health Minister of Switzerland, Alain Berset, announced in the press last Sunday that further relaxations of the Corona-protective measures for the coming months are in prospect. In particular, he mentioned that cultural and sport events could be allowed quickly, and that even larger-scale events could be allowed in summer. Of course, everything always depends on how the pandemic continues to develop.

Even without the Federal Council’s motivation, 1'284 people have already signed-up for this year’s most important orienteering event in Continental Europe by the first registration deadline. They come from 15 European countries with the biggest delegations from Germany and the Czech Republic. In Switzerland, the towns of Winterthur, Zurich and Chur are the largest “orienteering hotspots”.

The final registration deadline for the competitive categories is on 31 May 2021 and for the open categories “Challenge” and “Holiday” on 5 July 2021. After 6 July 2021, it is also still possible to register daily for the open classes.
